A Very odd USA by Ammonoidea A Very odd USA by Ammonoidea
Big, amde with inkscape and photoshop. This is a very very odd USA from an alternate history where a series of conflicts in the 1810s cause things to go very very differently. Virginia became a monarchy, Britain joined (yes this is completely ridiculous) after having the home islands conquered by Napoleon, there was a socialist revolution in some areas in the 1890s, Mexico collapsed... Look it's very silly but ended up looking okay.

Looks cool.
But it´s hard to distinguish independent nations and divided provinces of bigger nations.
So Mexico is divived in the Empire of Mexico  and the Republic of Mejico?
Are Florida, Cuba and Dominica sovereign nations in their own right?

That is probably the most confusing map I've ever seen for an alternate America.

Political break-up is often like this.
You should see the map of OTL German Confederation in 1815.

All about land grabbing and power play, back then.
Lots of kings and grand dukes and landgraves and city councils, who wanted to keep/expand their fiefdoms.
And now imagine this kind of people in charge of the old American colonies...

Wait, so this is some sort of Confederation, or an American version of the HRE ???

Sort of both. There are parts like the HRE (an elected monarchical head, free cities), but I tried to make them "American" in some way, like having the elected Monarchical head sometimes not a monarch, and the free cities an outgrowth of a different progressive movement (like how Seattle was run in 1917 by the General Strike Committee, or St. Louis in 1877).

This North America needs some proper organizing.

What is the capitol of the British Empire (in exile)?

You know, that's tricky. I imagine that it would be either Ontario or Montreal, seeing as how the British would probably not set up their capitol in exile in Quebec City, but I'm not sure which.perhaps it switched a lot, similar to how long it took to decide on the capitol of OTL Canada.

...You have the shortening "Emp." next to New York City. Please tell me that's what I think it is.

The Empirial Revolutionary Congress (kind of an oxymoron)?

Note that spelling is slightly different in the Alternate Universe.
